Disclaimer

Not legal advice. Not a manual.

Reading a docket entry does not create a lawyer-client relationship. Laws, regulations, and agency rules change, and they differ by state, by city, and sometimes by the identity of the person involved.

No how-to

This site explains why a practice can be lawful and why people condemn it. It does not provide steps, forms, scripts, or strategies for using any practice against another person. Several entries involve conduct that becomes a crime one fact over — a false statement, a missing disclosure, a prohibited motive. Do not treat proximity to a line as permission.

No completeness

Thirty-two cases are a curriculum, not a census. Absence from the ledger means nothing about legality or morality.

Names and marks

Legally Crime is an editorial project. Case names such as Kelo or Citizens United are used to identify public judicial opinions. No court, agency, or company sponsors this site.

If you are in a real dispute

Talk to a lawyer admitted in the relevant state. If you cannot afford one, look up the legal-aid office for that state. A website cannot tell you whether your forfeiture notice, your firing, or your water call is lawful.
